Teddy 5yr old ESS
Teddy, 5yo male.
Teddy came in with Bailey (also 5yo male) and they get on great with each other. There hasn’t been a cross word between them and their play fights can get very loud and rowdy. We would like to rehome them together, but if we do split them they must go with another dog, they will not be rehomed as only dogs.
Teddy has a good recall when in the house and garden but it needs a lot of work. When out on walks he barely responds when on the end of a lead. For this reason, he is being kept on lead on walks (his foster home is near sheep). He pulls strongly on a normal lead and tries to pull on a Halti but to a lesser degree (he doesn’t like the Halti and will claw at it to get it off). He is a typical spaniel, gets very bouncy and excitable, and just wants to be off exploring.
Teddy likes to be out in the garden with Bailey and checks it out for birds and anything else worth chasing. He is able to open doors that have a horizontal handle, so if you don’t want the door opened you’d best lock it, (he has broken into and out of several rooms already, including an external door). So far he has not escaped by jumping over a baby gate but has managed to open one.
Teddy comes across as a bit highly strung and a ‘ready to go’ dog, who isn’t a bit of bother with the resident dogs. He’s a big softy who likes a cuddle on the sofa and will try and sit on your lap if he can. He travels well in a crate but is also keen to get out when he thinks the journey has ended. He can be unsettled at first at night as he would prefer to be with his human than in the dining room with Bailey, but when he realises that’s all he’s getting he will quieten down. He is an early riser and will cry and whimper to let you know he needs out, and if needs be he will go back to bed after he’s been out but he won’t be quiet for long.
Teddy is a fabulous dog and someone is going to be very lucky to have him. He will not be rehomed as an only dog.
Teddy is currently being fostered near Stirling in Scotland and you will be expected to travel to meet him.
A home check for new adopters will be required, and an adoption donation will apply to all to allow us to continue our work.
